Walk into being
You can’t be on a path to somewhere; you can only be where you are.
You cannot be in the future, nor in the past. Don’t try to be anywhere else but right here, where you are now.
This is the most important moment of your life.
Stop the pendulum in the middle. This is the right path, the point where you simply inhabit your being. Do what needs to be done, and don’t worry about what you cannot control. Things take care of themselves without us.
As the wise man says:
“Sitting quietly, doing nothing, Spring comes, and the grass grows by itself.” — Matsuo Bashō
Wandering through the rooms of the past may be an emotional journey, just as wandering the “what if” paths of the future can be. But try to make time neither for remembering nor for dreaming of what is to come.
Simply look at what is right in front of you.
Be free to change course. Take a look at that book that has been sitting on the table for weeks.
Own your day. Every moment must be deliberate and full of vitality. You’re immortal and have the whole of eternity, so whatever you do, do it with the full force of intention.
You are no longer striving; you are gliding.
Your spirit is flying above the waters while your mind is doing its deeds. You are a spectator, not minding yourself, but truly observing yourself minding.
You will never be tired again, because you will need no effort in anything. No more opposition to what is. You are the peace of the universe, and the universe is just swirling around you as around its center.
Is it hard to open your eyes? Is it hard to just stop for a moment, to look and observe without judgment?
Can you just hear without hearing, look without knowing what you see, feel your body without wanting any movement?
Imagine you are in the presence of the eternal and the sacred, no words needed, nothing but pure presence.
That is the best that can happen to you.
Do you need rest? Take a walk, a break from screens, noise, and phones.
Do you need warmth? Talk to somebody, or just go to a park. There are always people there. Or simply look at the sky; it will never deceive you.
Have the night, night. Close the lights. Have the day, day. Go outside, into the sun.
Observe. Listen. The universe always comes to you if you are attentive enough. God will always wink at you through His creations, in one way or another.
You don’t even have to think about anything.
Take your time to breathe, look around, and break the spell of the mind trapped outside reality.
