Love is the antidote
Is sin like a broken ladder step? A broken step opening a hole through which you can sink into oblivion? Or maybe sin is a symptom of your not being in tune with the universe—a kind of sickness? Or perhaps sin is the flesh of the demon called “wrong” or “bad.”Can a sin be the result of a judgment? I don’t believe in sins because I think we are sinning all the time, more or less; only grace can make us act without sin. Sin is a betrayal, an imperfection that shadows the pure light of the Way. Sin is wrongness in itself—big wrongness, small wrongness—but our path seems to be a slalom between shades of light. We are always more or less wrong because our world is corrupted and we are part of it.Only humility gives us the ultimate edge to live sin-less, and humility means recognising all our imperfections while still trusting that, though unworthy, God’s grace is still operating in us. Then love intervenes, because love is the ultimate sin-destroyer: one who loves cannot sin with intention. This is the beginning and the source of light that can guide us through the darkness.
