Why is it so hard to find authenticity
in today’s human beings?

Let’s take the tyranny of the “feel good, feel strong” image.
Imposed on us by the implacable rule of performance and productivity.
If you don’t have utility, you’re useless.
We fear exclusion above all,
So we feel obliged to show no crack in the armor.

Every outfit must be perfectly crafted to hide
Any originality, ingenuity, or anomaly.
The system hates errors!

By the tyrannical “How are you?” question.

But I say:
This is just another mask in the repertoire.

We are the poor Oz,
Master puppets of our own shells.
Inside, we are weak, exhausted, and almost blind.

We’ve lost the gym called community.
We’ve lost the connection
To the ancestral roots of our tribes.
And so our internal body grows weaker and weaker.

---

That’s why we wear fake personas.
We’re too ashamed of our own fragility
To show the authentic I to the rays of the sun.

“I’m good” often really means:

“I’m lonely.”
“I’m not free to say otherwise.”
“I’m not free to be me anyway.”
“I don’t even know how to be bad…”

How many times have you answered:
“I’m bad”?
Almost never.

No purpose, no meaning,
only carrying a shell
through an absurd collective dance.

---

“I’m good” has become a cynical way
To affirm this society’s mummified values.

---

That’s why we wear masks…
Like mummies do.

Trapped and wrapped by society
in a spider-web cocoon.

Not dead;

….

Mummified alive.
